Hi there! I’m Rachael, a freelance writer, editor and SEO specialist based in the UK.
After living in the Middle East for several years, I’ve found myself a beautiful (and unusually dry) part of the UK to call home. Although I’m originally from England, I’ve spent most of my life in the US, Scotland and the UAE. Besides allowing me to explore more of the world, growing up ‘abroad’ has shaped who I am as a person and a journalist.
It was in the UAE where I had my first taste of working in the publishing industry and I loved every minute of it: the fast pace, the daunting deadlines, the challenge of working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual environment. I worked for well-known publications including What’s On, BBC Good Food ME and Abu Dhabi World, covering everything from food, culture and community, to arts and entertainment, people, travel and health. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing legends like Jane Goodall, Dame Kelly Holmes and Gary Rhodes; covering live events such as the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix; and curating the first Pride of Abu Dhabi Awards.
In 2019, opportunity brought me back to the UK where I was able to combine my love for journalism with my passion for sustainable living and plant-based food at Veggie. After overseeing the magazine’s digital transformation, I honed my skills in the world of content creation. Working across Aceville/DC Thomson’s lifestyle brands, I created editorial, commercial and promotional content for print and online platforms, overseeing digital content strategies for the brands, including SEO-optimised articles, newsletters and social media.
Now I’m combining my years of experience to create clean, carefully compiled copy that not only speaks to readers, but informs, motivates and inspires them.
Whether you need quality editorial features written on a particular topic, a digital content editor to oversee a project, or guidance on creating SEO content that will deliver results, I’m here to help – you have my word!
